Janalee

Mercurian of the Sword

Role: Jennifer Lee Maeve, College student

Janalee is another of Laurence's Catholic evangelists in Dallas. She is unusual in that she began her corporeal service as a reliever, and has been permitted to keep the vessel and Role she developed once she fledged into a Mercurian. This is also the origin of her unusual name, which is a typical reliever name made of syllables to convey her spirit, but without any real meaning. Normally, relievers take a new angelic name when they fledge; Janalee chose to keep hers.

Under several aliases (she worked in other cities besides Dallas before fledging), Janalee helped organize Catholic youth events in the guise of a high school student. Now that she is an angel, her vessel is being allowed to age gradually, and she is a student at Southern Methodist University, still active in Catholic Young Adult programs.

Her current function in Dallas, besides continuing to evangelize to mortals, is as a liaison and trainer for Soldiers of God. She is often sent to convey the orders of Iealo in a softer tone, and to relate to Soldiers and cater to their needs as much as possible without coddling them. She has become an expert fencer and pistol sharpshooter, skills she teaches new servants. (She cannot, of course, use her skills against humans, even Hellsworn, but that doesn't prevent her from enjoying them as sports.)

Janalee is bubbly, enthusiastic, and friendly. Many of her fellow angels find her annoying, but she's very popular with mortals. She's also extremely pretty, and has a vessel so shapely and buxom that some have theorized she's intended to embody temptation, and force mortals (the straight male ones, anyway) to practice self-discipline. There may be something to this; she socializes with mortals in an easy, friendly manner that stops just short of being flirtatious, but she is very angelic and very Catholic, and anyone who tests this will be reminded quickly that she is an angel of the Sword.
