Karel

Cherub of Protection

Karel is a devout Cherub of Zadkiel. In her earthly roles, she has always chosen to be a photographer named Karen Taylor and she has newly arrived in the city, working for the DallasMorningNews as a staff photographer. She has been sent here to protect someone, but she doesn’t know who yet.

On Earth she is about 5’4” tall, about 115 pounds, long brown hair, brown eyes, slim, athletic, very attractive figure. She has the look of a girl next door, which helps her get close to good people and also not draw tremendous attention to herself. When she is trying to charm a man for his own good or for other reasons, she is highly irresistible. Her smile, charm and great looks usually ensure that the object of her attention is focused on her.

Her job as a photographer leads her to look into many stories. She will take pictures of anything from a local high school event to the governor’s election campaign. Nothing really is out of the question.

She is skilled in hand to hand fighting. Despite Zadkiel’s mistrusting of David, she is currently employed at the DallasMorningNews.

Her first assignment was a complete failure. She was sent to protect a scientist (Bertram Gerhardt in Sweden) who was working on an important medical discovery. She was doing okay to protect him, but she stayed away from him until he really needed the protecting. She couldn't get to him in time when he was kidnapped. The demons who took him wanted his secrets, but when they knew Karel was coming to help him, they decided that killing him was better than letting the good humans benefit from his efforts. She held herself very much accountable for his death. She knew that if she had been closer to him at all times or maybe even hadn't been so obvious in trying to get him back he might have lived. Since then she has vowed to be better at protection, by primarily ingraining herself in their life.

She could be considered over-zealous now when it comes to protecting her attuned. She gets the job done, but she has a consistent habit of falling completely in love with her charge. In her last assignment in Maine she had been assigned to protect the Portland chief of police (Randall Edwards). For all intents and purposes she had fallen in love with him to stay close during her assignment. She had eventually removed all the threats to him and she was ordered to move on. To facilitate it, she had faked her death, which because of a lack of a body is still under some investigation. (She was seen going out on a boat one day and the boat had mysteriously been blown up and sunk). He was completely in love with her and is probably still following leads to find out what happened.

Karel has come to Dallas to protect AndrewDollins and KarolynDollins.
