Shalomiel, Elohite of Destiny
Shalomiel is played by AJ
Shalomiel
Shalomiel fledged during the 1940s in Europe, and was instrumental in gently guiding a number of those whose destinies it was to oppose the nazi juggernaut in some way. Its success rate brought favour from Yves and continued servitude on Earth, specialising in going into unpleasant places and situations to encourage people to fulfil their potential for good, be it in the Soviet gulag, the South African diamond mines or wherever else It was needed. Softly spoken, subtle and dertermined, Shalomiel developed into something of a scalpel in Yves' service, perfect for making careful adjustments wherever needed to bring about the best outcome or minimise the worst.
Shalomiel is cool, calm, collected, in control, but above all else, determined. It maintains an emotional calmness and objectivity, as is essential to the Elohim, but it is overlaid by an unfaltering will to do what is required, a drive towards the necessary. There are those that hold this degree of focus edges towards the subjective, in an 'I must do this' manner. Shalomiel prefers to consider it in the light of 'This must be done', and asserts that It remains objective, but when a path of action is clear and reasonable, it should be persued with all diligence and without doubt, doubt very definitely being subjective. For a being of objectivity, It definitely has an assertive streak.
Shalomiel would delight in doing Yves' will, if it allowed itself the vain luxury of feeling delight. Nonetheless, it is contented and at its most stable when doing the will of Yves, seeing itself as a well-honed implement in Destiny's hand. Given the state of the war and of the world, there is no shortage of situations into which the balance needs to be gently guided towards Destiny, so there is no danger of being out of balance in that respect. While not a fighter in the conventional sense, it appreciates the value of each tool and its purpose in this war. It exists to serve Yves: it considers having too much of a social life to be dangerously subjective and not that which needs to be done.
Currently, Shalomiel is heavily involved in weakening the Tether to the Game in the DallasINSOffice. This is a task of extreme delicacy and danger, for which Shalomiel has spent years establishing herself in an appropriate role:
Amanda Dryden
Age: 34
Gender: Female
Profession: Civil servant, Federal desk jockey.
Education: Masters Degree in law from the Dedman school of law, Southern Methodist University
About five feet four inches tall, fairly slender with a petite frame. A very 'professional' face, businesslike, soft-spoken in voice but with a hard-edged undertone when requited. Hazel eyes, straight brown hair, usually neck-length but set in a bun. Usually dresses conservatively in understated tones, gentle blues and greens.
A local girl, born in the suburbs of Fort Worth, she had a relatively gentle and peaceful Christian upbringing. Somewhat shy, bookish and hardworking, she was never much of a socialite, focussing on her studies. She applied to and was accepted by the Southern Methodist University, and the only slightly negative mark on her record was a lack of interest in extracurricular activities that were not intellectual or academic in nature. She obtained her degree Cum Laude, and applied to work for the Department of Immigration and Naturalisation, was accepted and has recently been assigned to the DallasINSOffice.
A quiet but stubborn soul, she has a cast-iron sense of right and wrong, refusing to countenance or put up with malpractice, malfeasance or malapropism. A staunch believer in upholding the law in its ideal spirit, for the benefit of the people, she has studied to that effect and will gently but firmly try to bring such things about. She's a big fan of efficiency, of doing things right and not letting them get snarled up to the detriment of all.
There are those who believe her to be too businesslike, not particularily social or friendly. She will, of course, neither confirm, deny, confront or be annoyed by such rumours: She does, however, treat her housecat fairly well. While not mollycoddling it, she feeds, strokes, tidies up after and lets it get on with life. In exchange, it largely ignores her: both parties seem satisfied by this arrangement.
Family-wise, she has no 'special someone' at the moment: her parents died in an automobile accident while she was at college, and she remains an only child. She has a few fair weather friends who occasionally correspond from her university days, but largely she associates with her work colleagues, though she tends to seperate business and pleasure.
She lives in a nice apartment in the Dallas suburbs: her flat is well appointed and reasonably stocked with modern conveniences. She has a small library of law books occupying what would otherwise be a guest bedroom.
